About The Founder

Our Founder of the WS (ELM) CHARITABLE TRUST, Mr. Winfred Sundararajan, was a former Mathematics Teacher of ELM School, Chennai was born in a teacher’s family. He joined E.L.M. Fabricius School, Purasawalkam, Chennai as a Mathematics Teacher during the year 1973. He taught mathematics for more than 3 decades in ELM School (32 years).

Our Founder wanted to settle down in hilly Station,and he got voluntary retirement from our school in the year 2005 and shifted his family to Coonoor near Ooty. Upon the request of reputed International School Authorities, he joined as a mathematics teacher in St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary school which was formerly known as Joseph’s College,at Coonoor.

When our founder Mr. Winfred Sundarajan came to Chennai, he happens to meet former student Mr.V.P.Shanmugam (1982 batch) and discussed about ELM School.

On hearing that the student’s strength which was considerably decreased as well the school environment is not maintained properly Sir Winfred decided to do something good for the school where he was serving once. He called upon for a meeting with all former students who were in contact with each other school mates, who studied from 1973 to 2005.

Lot of old students gathered at the residence of old student Mr. Kanagaraj. Sir Winfred discussed regarding development of the school and the present scenario of schools. Many suggestions given and finally to start with Ex-Students decided to donate 2 sets of school uniform free of cost to new students admitted, Library books, Latest facility of wash rooms, announced Awards to top scorers in Government Board Examinationof Xth std and XIIth std, Awards & Rewards to the teachers who achieved 100% pass in Government Board Examination.

Sir Winfred and Old Student decided to establish a website of this trust so that all the old students spread around the world who once studied at ELM School, Purasaiwalkam, Chennai-600 007, presently in other countries will get to know about the Trust.This showed results and old students have already started donating towards the welfare of the School through Trust. The Trust is helping the current students of ELM School with the fund collected from the ex-students of ELM School and helping them to develop the standard of the school education, starting from uniforms and notebooks free and trying to achieve more relevant study methods and environment to the School.

The Trust was registered as per the Rules and Regulations of the Tamilnadu Government.
